How to Post a Blog Post on WordPress
How to Choose Editor Type
The classic editor is better for straightforward text posts. The block editor is better for more advanced styling, such as columns with an image, text, and button.
We recommend the classic editor for most clients. It's simple, easy to use and less buggy. We also recommend writing your blog post in your preferred word processing software, then copying the completed post into WordPress and formatting there.
Blog Post Steps:
- Log in to your WordPress Dashboard
- Click 'Posts' in the sidebar at left
- Click 'Add New Post'
- Write (or paste) your blog post (see below)
- Schedule or Publish your blog post
What to include: Every blog post should include the following elements.
- A catchy title that contains the primary keyword for the post
- Body copy (break up with headings, bulleted lists, etc.)
- A meta description under 160 characters
- An excerpt (copy the meta description)
- At least one category
- A featured image, if possible (strongly recommended)
Our websites include a pre-publish checklist with this information.
